How does Rivelune's service work?
You tell us your plans — dates, guests, occasion and budget. We shortlist suitable yachts for you, set out the options and arrange your booking. We are an independent advisory service and work with trusted partner brokerages behind the scenes, while remaining your main point of contact from first enquiry to booking.
Do you own or operate yachts?
No. Rivelune does not own or operate yachts and does not have a fleet. We help you find and arrange the right charter, working with trusted partner brokerages to secure it.
Does it cost anything to enquire?
No. Enquiring is free and there is no obligation. Tell us your plans and we'll prepare a personal shortlist within 12 hours.
I've never chartered a yacht. Is that a problem?
No. Many of our clients are new to yachting. Before you commit, you receive a clear view of what is included and an itemised estimate of costs.
How far ahead should I book for an event week?
Event weeks such as the Monaco Grand Prix book up months in advance, often the year before. For the summer season, three to nine months ahead gives the best choice.
What is APA?
APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is a sum paid in advance, usually a percentage of the base rate, that covers running costs such as fuel, food, drinks and berthing. Any unused balance is normally returned at the end of the charter.
Where do yacht charters depart from in Monaco?
Most charters depart from Port Hercule, Monaco's main harbour. Some smaller yachts use Port de Fontvieille, on the western side of the Rock.
Can I charter a yacht for just a day in Monaco?
Yes. Half-day (about four hours) and full-day (about eight hours) charters are popular, with day-charter motor yachts From €2,000 to €15,000 per day.
How much does a yacht charter in Monaco cost?
Indicative high-season base rates run from €2,000 per day for a day boat to €700,000+ per week for a 50m+ superyacht. Add APA, VAT and crew gratuity on top.
Is VAT included in yacht charter prices?
No. Prices are quoted before VAT. For charters starting in Monaco, VAT of 20% is added to the charter fee; it is not charged on the APA.
Does the yacht's flag affect the VAT rate?
No. The embarkation country sets the VAT rate, not the yacht's flag. A charter starting in Monaco follows Monaco's rate.
How much APA should I budget?
APA is typically 25%–40% of the base fee in Monaco; around 35% is a sensible budget. Any unspent amount is returned.
Should we tip the crew?
Crew gratuity is discretionary and given at the end of the charter, typically 5%–15% of the base fee, with 10% customary.
When is the best time to charter a yacht in Monaco?
June and September offer warm weather with more choice; May, June and September are often 20%–35% cheaper than July and August for the same yacht.
When should I book a Monaco Grand Prix yacht?
We recommend booking as early as possible; many clients book 6–12 months ahead for the Grand Prix and 4–9 months ahead for the Monaco Yacht Show. The best yachts and berths in Port Hercule go first.
How many guests can a charter yacht take?
Most charter yachts take up to 12 guests overnight. For daytime use, some larger yachts can host more guests, subject to the yacht's licence.
What size yacht do I need?
For a day on the water, a day-charter motor yacht under 25m suits most groups. For a week with 8–10 guests, 25–35m is common; for more space and service, look at 35m and above.
Can I charter a sailing yacht from Monaco?
Yes. Sailing yachts are available on request; just mention it in your enquiry and we'll include suitable options in your shortlist.
Is the crew included in the charter price?
Yes. The base rate covers the yacht and her professional crew. Food, drinks, fuel and berthing are paid separately through the APA.
What is a MYBA contract?
It is the standard yacht charter agreement used across the industry, published by MYBA. It sets out the rate, APA, payment schedule and cancellation terms.
How do I pay for a yacht charter?
Typically a deposit on signing the charter contract, with the balance and APA paid before the charter starts. Exact terms are set in the contract for each yacht.
Can I bring my own food or drinks?
Usually you share preferences in advance and the crew provisions the yacht through the APA. Some yachts allow special items; we confirm this per yacht.
How far is Monaco from Nice airport?
Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is about 30–45 minutes from Monaco by road, longer during major events.
Where can we go on a day charter from Monaco?
Popular routes include Cap d'Ail, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat to the west, and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Menton to the east.
Can we cruise to Italy or Saint-Tropez?
Yes, on a longer charter. Portofino and Saint-Tropez are popular week itineraries from Monaco; passports are needed for border crossings.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The captain decides on safety and may adjust the route or timing. Cancellation terms for weather are set out in the charter contract.
